Fluffiness

Weekend is a time to do homework laze around and pretend to be doing work so as if to avoid nagging from certain parties.

Dug out some old drabbles that I wrote a couple of years back, working on several LJ prompts that I stole from various communities. Mainly to ward off boredom during maths/physics/hmt classes, and to work on portraying an established relationship that was completely free of any paranormal influences and also how to write fluff/romantic scenes instead of antagonistic and emo-ish pieces all the time.

Prompt: teddy bear, doll

He used to collect stuffed animals; his father would buy him a new one every time he went on a business trip. The toys used to be displayed prominently in his room, strewn across the bed, stuffed in the closet, on the table, everywhere.

It all ended when his father left, just upped and ran off with some other woman, and he had packed away all those toys, knowing that their presence would only haunt his mother with unpleasant memories of betrayal and hurt.

At age 17, he felt that he was really too old to be playing with stuffed animals, so the giant box of toys remained in storage, half forgotten by mother and son.

He paced, shoving his hands deep into his pocket as he waited impatiently for Xavier. The other boy was never late, usually arriving at least 5 minutes before the agreed time. He was the one with the tendency to be late instead.

"Del!" Xavier ran up to him, bending over slightly to catch his breath, his mop of thick black hair tousled from the wind, "Sorry I'm late, did you wait long?"

He scowled, "Yeah, I did," A complete lie. He hadn't even waited for more than 10 minutes. "I had half the mind to just leave without you. You certainly deserve it. Why were you late anyway?"

Xavier smiled sheepishly, and handed over a paper bag which Del hadn't noticed at all previously.

The blond raised an eyebrow, accepting the package, feeling the contents of the bag. It was soft and slightly squashy.

Giving in to his curiosity, he peeked, and was surprised to see a stuffed bear staring back at him with glassy brown eyes, a shade darker than its caramel brown fur.

Delwyn smiled, remembering how he felt, many, many years ago, when his father presented him with his first toy.

"Here's a bear to guard your bed for me when I'm not around," his father had said, tucking the toy into bed with him.

Del glanced up to see an apprehensive Xavier, and with a sly smile, he pounced onto the taller boy.

"You're forgiven. But only this time! Next time you're late, I'll won't forgive you so easily!"

Xavier smirked, "So, does that means that I get to do anything I want to you when you're late?"

"You pervert!" Delwyn yelled, pulling away as he blushed bright red.

Xavier caught hold of his hand as he moved, entwining their fingers together with a chuckle. Del looked away studiously, still red.

title: promises
universe: capriccio
type: prompted drabble
pairing: Xavier/Del
notes: none

Prompt: a ring; promise.

Del dragged his boyfriend down the row of shops, ignoring everything until they finally turned towards a tiny store. A quaint sign was hung above, proclaiming its name in a delicate cursive script - Argent.

"Hey, you don't mind us showing up in school with matching rings?" Xavier asked, walking behind Del at a slower pace.

"What, afraid you'll lose all your female fans once they see that you're officially taken?" the other boy retorted, challenging him slightly.

Matching rings were currently the hottest thing to hit their sleepy town. To wear the same ring as your partner on the right ring finger was the ultimate expression of love, while wearing matching rings on the middle finger showed that the pair were best friends. Wearing a ring on the left middle finger would indicate the person's availability.

And just how did this little jewellery fad start? To say that Del was the mastermind was a little harsh, since all that he did, was merely to drop a certain manga onto a particular classmate's table accidentally. Now, how was he to know that that particular classmate would spread the ring craze around? So there was really no way that Del could be behind this incident, right?

"Of course not! Those girls were scary, did you even notice how high they could screech?! It's enough to break windows! And the way they were mobbing us and following our every move was just creepy. It's really enough to make me swear off girls just to escape the terrible noise." Xavier shuddered at the unpleasant memories.

More like tailing you, you idiot.

"If you don't mind, then hurry up," Del answered as he opened the door to the shop.

As they chose out rings, which mostly consisted of Del running amok like a hyperactive child on concentrated sugar, Xavier wondered if they were progressing just a little too fast, since they had only been going out for a total of 3 months and 12 days, and he wondered if they would last long enough, especially with all the fights and arguments they had over the short span of time together. He wondered if he could continue liking Del. even when he was being selfish and fickle and annoying, which was majority of the time, and seriously, what would everyone say once they found out about their matching rings? They were both high profile enough that few would let this incident slide without comment.

"Xavier! Look, look, isn't this pair just perfect? I think we ought to engrave words on it, like, our initials or dates! What do you think?" he asked excitedly, tugging on Xavier's hand. Xavier looked down at his smiling face, the glint in those dark eyes sparkling like the silver rings he had picked.

Oh, to heck with everything. No point thinking so much, this is Del after all.

"Looks great to me, shall we just get them then?" he replied, peering at the intricate design on the bands curiously.

Indeed, the smile that he was rewarded immediately with was enough for him to forget any troubles.

Okay. Major fluff, I'm sort of cringing as I write this too, think I ought to stick with blood and gore and emo stuff, haha. Don't think I'm doing justice to poor Del and Xavier and I finally remembered their storyline and backgrounds. XD
