Okay, so I rushed through the entire book in just one sitting because I freaking couldn't put it down. Yes, it was that compelling. Seriously, the Dresden series is one that I would never get tired of. This has been proven because I picked up this series as well as Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series at the same time. And while I have gotten mightily sick of Anita Blake and her Mary-Sue-ish tendencies as well as the pron disguising as prose, Harry Dresden never fails to amuse me. He doesn't waste time emoing over whether it's right to be fucking monsters that you're supposed to be killing, he just kills them. He doesn't waste time over relationships and hang ups, he does his job which is a lot more than Anita could be doing, what with her harem of men.

Anyway, back to the book before I start ranting off my mouth about how badly the Anita Blake series have fallen.

SPOILERS AHEAD. YES, FAZA, YOU SHOULDN'T READ UNLESS YOU WANT ME TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU.

Basically, I like to think that many characters from the previous books have appeared here once again, we have the slick mob boss, Marcone, mysterious evil wizard Cowl, Lasciel the fallen angel, more vampires, of the Red, Black and White Courts. Apparently, it's sort of hard to follow if you haven't really read everything, but it doesn't matter much since I haven't read the last released book since... December last year? Yeah, I think so, the one with Molly's story at such horror convention? Reminded me of the Sandman indeed.

Anyway, apparently, someone or something have been killing off normal witches in the community, and the police have mostly labelled them as suicide cases because they are made to look like suicide cases. However, because Harry is magic, lol, he finds that they have been murdered instead. And thus begins investigations.

The thing is his half brother is apparently a main suspect because one, he's missing from his apartment when Harry goes to find him in which a funny episode occurs that may become a running gag with Murphey, two, he's been seen with the missing women before they go missing. Yeah... but Harry believes that his brother is innocent, of course and well, investigates further.

Here, he is aided by a whole lot of characters, Carlos who is also a Warden, Murph the loyal sidekick, okay, not really, Molly the apprentice who really really wants to help but doesn't quite yet understand Harry's point, and Elaine the first love and etc, you get the point. But the one thing is, even though there are a lot of characters running all over the place, they are well developed enough that they are realistic. Jim Butcher has effectively created unique voices for them, which is one thing that I really liked in books.

Also, the plot twists are just so unexpected that you don't end up knowing the ending within the first few chapters which happens to me in many other books. And that's annoying of course. But in this series, especially in the latter parts, you just go along for the ride and hope your brain don't explode with all the action that's going on because damn, Harry never does things in a half assed way.

The dialogue is generally quite snappy but... not really funny at times, it's sort of... expected? I mean, the responses are so typical I could have read them in some other books, with some modifications, but yeah, you get the point.

I believe that White Night sets up the stage for larger events later on, especially hinted by Lash and considering that things aren't exactly settled with Cowl, we get more expectations. Ooh, and the White Council as well, since their war isn't exactly done either. No wonder Harry never has the time to get laid, lol. It's sort of a running gag already, I think.
And because my brain is shorted out after imagining all the explosions and the fighting scenes going on, I shall stop here.

OH HEY, THERE WASN"T MUCH SPOILERS AFTER ALL THEN. :D
